Strong wind from the Ocean - Outer Banks Day 2

Hey!
So had another great did doing some stuff around the area. We enjoyed out continental breakfast that is included with our stay there and it was alright I guess. Any who we headed south into the Cape Hatters Park where we drove over Oregon Inlet and onto Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge where we usually go to enjoy a walk and see what we can see. You should go for it if you are in the area! Also keep driving south =along the banks to Cape Hatteras where you will see the iconic Hatteras Lighthouse! I went there before they had to move it back from the ocean for the threat of the ocean moving to close and possibly taking it down and I have been to it since it's new relocation after the move. We also went over through Manteo on 64 to the Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge on the other side of the Croatan Sound. There you can drive through some of the dirt roads along canals and wetlands and see Alligators in North Carolina! Pretty cool, also if you are lucky you can see some Black Beers, deer and if you are really lucky the introduced the Red Wolf there but they are hard to see as there is a hundred there I guess. I was standing in my seat and out of the window was we were safari-ing through the refuge so I could spot an alligator, it was fun till the mosquitos started to eat us alive! We then  went to the beach and chilled out with a beer. The wind was really strong and made some strong current and waves which was different from the previous day. Was great though. Dinner was great, look below for photos and description of how that was and also we did Putt-putt (miniature golf) after which was fun! Check out the photos of the day below everyone!

The sun rise in the morning was great, love it every time...

We hit the road and drove over the Oregon Inlet which joins the Pamlico Sound and Atlantic Ocean, lots of people go fishing out there...

We then went to Pea Island Wildlife Refuge where we did some walking a little bit. Usually the mosquito's are really bad but the wind was so strong there that we didn't have to worry about it at all!!!

And there is one, two and three...yeah that's my family

Photobucket

Tide must be out because usually that is under

Photobucket Photobucket

Along the way to there and passing back there was some bulldozers pushing the sand back because the storm had blown a lot of the sand off the dunes onto the road!

Photobucket

The road is up against the dunes that don't have much vegetation to hold the sand down so if there is wind, like in this picture, then the sand blows all over the road and you drive in it.

We are in a desert!!

We then took the road over to Manteo and took 64 over to Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge where we drove some back dirt roads like a safari. The sky was so beautiful and blue that day, I couldn't stop taking pictures!

Photobucket

Especially when you have an expanse like this to take it in. It was so quiet out there since no one else was driving on the dirt roads!

Photobucket

Here is the one Alligator that we managed to find, never knew that they were in North Carolina, thought it was to far north...

Photobucket Photobucket

I think they are growing some crops out there to even though it is a refuge, gosh I love that sky...

Photobucket

Never ending road going into the distant sky, yeah I will definitely take the road

Photobucket

Oh yeah, I had my entire body out of the car while going along to get some shots and spot alligators haha

Photobucket

Stopping for a second...looking around

Meanwhile we went back to the beach to enjoy the afternoon!

Photobucket

The seas were a bit rougher that day, I think it scared this boy from jumping into it haha

For dinner we went to the Black Pelican, the same building that the Wright Brothers, the ones who flew the first time, came to telegraph the world that they did it! Also, the restaurant had a beer that I had in Japan! It was a 24oz and my parents never tried it before so they had some. They thought it was great tasting and thus I finished it and apparently became buzzed later...

Photobucket

Not a good photo, but I had a meal called Tuna Nagano, it was chilled (raw) tuna pieces with some udon and it had some special wasabi sauce and a really good mustard/mayonnaise sauce too. Was interesting and good!

Photobucket

If you go to the Outer Banks you need to play some putt-putt (miniature golf). Especially the themed courses like this one is pirates! My sister is up to putt...

Photobucket

Does she make it into the hole....no she doesn't haha, and nor do I

Photobucket

We were being crazy on the course and people were looking, so much fun!

Photobucket

It had a pirate ship and one of the holes is on it! In the end I won (because I am awesome)!
