International Manga Museum - Kyoto, Japan

The International Manga Museum is something interesting to check out if you are really into Manga. I will tell you know there is not that many English manga there but there is SO much Japanese manga's there. It has quite a collection and this museum is in an old Elementary school, Tatsuike Primary School. The lo-cal university and the city did this as a joint project. It is a great collection of work and hosts different exhibits of local work and award-winning work. There is also a room there that you can reserve some time in and do research. It started in November 2006.

I went on a rainy day and heard about it on my first trip to Japan but didn't go.

There was a lot of new and old manga but just the sheer numbers of Manga that were on the way. There is an area of the museum that shows manga through out the years.

Here is the room with the manga dated through the years, really interesting to see the progression of the manga industry and how it has changed from full on hand to some digital and hand work.

There is a huge Phoenix that was mounted in the huge room and the walk way above gets you close to it. Gorgeous colors. It was created in October 2009 and it is carved out of wood!
