In a lot of public bathrooms in Japan I found that they is no soap or toilet paper inside like you find in America There is sometimes a vending machine outside the door of the bathroom where you can purchase them! Sometimes there is not a machine at all. There was some in the stores though just not usually at the Temples, Shrines or parks!
No soap in public restrooms (mainly train stations) is unfortunately the norm in most of Japan. However, in Fukuoka there is soap in the train stations. Quite strange when comparing to train station toilets in Tokyo that don't have soap
ReplyDeleteToilet paper is much more prevalent now in public toilets such as train stations when compared to 10 or 15 years ago. However, it seems as temples require people to buy toilet paper still; hence, the experience of the writer.
