My Anime Girlfriend

I am enjoying this very much hehehe XD

Day at Summer School

So I told you that I took some photos of a typical day at summer school. I have quite a few pictures.. sorta.. anyways enjoy!

Lucky me, it was a nice day when I went to class that day. Plenty of sun, not to to hot and it was a Wednesday
Photobucket

So I drive a Ford Taurus, it is a comfortable car but has some problems. When I took this photo I had needed a new tire and the transmission was crewed up. Now my car has a new tire but I need to replace the clutch and condenser for the A/C which I am not doing because of the $1,000 price tag on the job. So now I enjoy my 100 degree weather days with my windows down. By the way it is still hot lol

Photobucket

Look back at the house, "bye bye house" haa ha not really, but I love where I live, nice an quite!

Photobucket

So when I got into my car I had an empty tank so that means I have to stop on the way to school to fill er' up!

Photobucket

Recently this summer a new Wawa opened up on 301, so that is where I stopped to get some gas. Some pretty cheap prices in the area!

Photobucket

Ok now I am off! It is easier to take 301 all the way since Monroe Campus is off Belvidere Street.

Photobucket

Driving through Chamberlayne. In this area back in past fall, I drove through a torrential down pour one evening. It was the same day that had all the tornadoes that touched down in the metro area. A few trees were knocked over along this road because of one that touched here.

Photobucket

I can see downtown in the distance!

Photobucket

So I was parking along Laurel and Cherry streets over the Down town express way. It gives me a goooood walking distance to my class on Grace street!

Photobucket

Now I am on foot, there are a lot of old houses and some house that should be vacated and redone. This red house is on the corner of Laurel and Cumberland Street.

Photobucket

I walk up Laurel Street most often, some nice people that live along there and of course there are a few college students that live along there that litter like no ones business.....

Photobucket

I sometimes cut through Green Alley but I didn't need to that day.

Photobucket

In the left side of this photo is the residential building that takes up a block. I'm at Laurel and Carry street at this time.

Photobucket

Never been inside the building but I hear that there are some big and small dorms inside. I can't get inside unless I have a key or what not to go through the security

Photobucket

So now I am reaching Monroe Park. This is Laurel at Main Street where the Landmark Theater is. I haven't been to a show inside of it for a very long time now.

Photobucket

I usually cut through the park during the day. There are still homeless people that sleep on benches or hang out with one-another all over the park. Don't cut through it at night!

Photobucket

I believe that VCU campus security or ground keepers keep this city park cleaned. They usually drive through to pick up trash or cut limbs that have fallen off trees.

Photobucket

That is the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, I had come down to class the previous week on a rainy day and there was a funeral being held at the time.

Photobucket

Anyways, I made it over the seven blocks to Grace street where the Physics building was to take my first class. We been using clickers in the class to ear participation points and so he can keep track of who is there and not. Now that the class is over I found out that my final grade was a B! I thought I wasn't doing to hot in the class.

Photobucket

So class ended, it was a boring lecture that day. I guess that is what physics is because it can't retain my attention for a whole lot. Which stunk because I took it every day of the week >_> Since my next class isn't for a while I take the long route on Franklin to reach Temple building.

Photobucket

I like this house that is still on Franklin. IT is used as an office building for VCU I believe. I think it is the Scott House. It looks very Victorian and in the metal works era or something like that. I wonder if that is all copper on the par t of the building.

Photobucket

Behind it is a seldom used area where people don't walk through to much. This is where you can get to the Anderson gallery.

Photobucket

A better look at the Scott House.

Photobucket

So I keep cutting through to reach Park Avenue and continue to reach the Student Commons.

Photobucket

All across campus we have recycle containers for mixed paper, bottles and cans. OF course also trash. Outside we have these fancy looking trash cans/recycling containers that have solar panels on top. I am not sure what the solar panels do for the containers them selves. I wonder if it just takes the energy and it is channeled back into the build that it is near by or maybe for the street lights. It is pretty cool no matter what the energy is used for since the cans will always be sitting in the sun.

Photobucket

So on the other side of Main street from the Student Commons is the temple building where the physics lab is held but I still have more time to burn.

Photobucket

I chill in the underground area of the student commons build. It isn't really used much during the summer so it is quite and I am no bothered.

Photobucket

So I attended the lab and now I am heading back to my car to pick up my girl friend to go out to eat at Red Lobster. It happened to be our 2 year anniversary that day.

Photobucket

Off on Belvidere!

Photobucket

I have to take 64 East to reach 360 North. Some one lost there things on there luggage rack on top of there car and caused some traffic on 64. bummer

Photobucket

Weeeee! Entering Hanover after this bottom. It is the Chickahominy Swap and River.

Photobucket

Now in Mechanicsville to get her. Mechanicsville is a very large area!

Photobucket

So that is some photos on a typical day in the summer at school for me. I am glad that classes are over because now it is more lax. I am now currently preparing for my Otakon trip which I leave for Thursday morning! So excited!

Otakon Matsuri Festival on Thursday The Menu!

So I managed to find this lurking on the boards at Otakon! It is the menu of some traditional Japanese foods that are going to be sold! I can tell you now that I will be getting Udon, onigiri and perhaps a steamed buns! Maybe a desert as well! Probably some Dango!

Cleaning at the grandparents

So last weekend I went to my grandparents to cleaning the outside of their house and did some painting. It was nice visiting them!

Anyways, they have a nice small house in the neighborhood. They have two big blue spruce trees in the front of the yard, although they have an infestation in them and will eventually die soon :(

Photobucket

So they have a metal chain link fence in their back yard that have a few honey suckles on it at one point but now is over run by wild grape vines. It is super thick and I attacked it for a while before my wrist acted up with the bad ligament.

Photobucket

Below  is the result of a lot of pulling and cutting haha. Grandmother was much appreciated.

Photobucket

So I cleaned the outside of the vinyl siding on all sides and I scrubbed a bit of the chimney too. The worst side was the North side of the house. Lots of green spots covered it needed a good scrub.

Photobucket

The after image of my awesome work lol

Photobucket

Before...

Photobucket

After!

Photobucket

Before...this corner looked nasty..

Photobucket

After! Looks pretty shinny!

Working at Grandparents

Hey everyone!
It has been a while since I last updated my blog with a refresher on my life.
So now that I have more free time I can now say what I have been up to this summer.
As you know, I was doing Physics 2 and Meteorology this summer and I finished up just this past Thursday. I got an A on the exam in Physics and the project in Meteorology looked well and I seam to be pulling off an A in that class. I am now trying to work full time at my internship but currently I don't have anything to do and no one has anything on their plates to pass off so that is why I'm blogging!
I just got back yesterday from Maryland, I had gone to North eastern part of Maryland where the top of the Chesapeake bay starts to my grandparents has from Friday to Monday. They gave me a job where I was to clean their house (they have vinyl siding), clean the gutters, and paint their garage. I even did some extra work like removing tons of vines from their fence that they want removed. It was hard work and I didn't get to finish as my wrist was acting up. I still need to make an appointment to fix the issue :/
We had a good time and it was a nice visit! I came back yesterday and got home in under 3 hours, new record. D.C. traffic was freaking fantastic that day. I took photos of some of my jobs and when I went hiking out to Turkey Point Lighthouse. Look forward to that post.
I currently have a back up on some photo posts, but you can't complain. I put a lot out last week that was in my back log. I have my photo walk journal thing of my day at Summer school, some flowers that I have been meaning to post, and this past weekend I need to go over and edit.
I have two figure reviews that I need to upload as well and another figure that I need to do a photo shoot that arrived yesterday!
I currently have been helping my girl friend working on her costume for Otakon that is only 2 weekends AWAY!!! I'm excited, I really am. We are going to have a great time and I am going to be taking a TON of photos. Time to pull out the 32GB SD card haha.
I need to work on a model that I want to submit into the contest. Problem is that I haven't done much yet with it and I am planning on hand painting the entire thing and I have 9 days left!!!!!
I can't really work much on it tonight or tomorrow night as I have to go in at my stocking job. grr. and I said I'd help work on her costume Thursday night, Friday night is my sisters Birthday party and I might have time this weekend. I hope. I might not stress and just submit only one this year. BUT I WANNA TRY!!!
On to some sad news. My other grandmother, my dad's mother isn't currently doing to well. She is in the hospital and has been for about 2 weeks now. She has had an artificial heart for a while. She had her first heart surgery in 1980 and the second in 1995 I think. She has an aneurysm on her heart that is roughly the size of a softball. It is leaking and it really is only a matter of time before she passes. I rarely see my father tear up, but my mother said that she has seen him tear up recently on occasion. My sister and I haven't been as close to those grandparents as we have been with the ones that live in Maryland but they live the closest. They live not much farther from my internship in south side of Richmond. She has decided that she wants to go home and spend her last days there rather then the hospital. I don't blame her. She needs home and her husband. She is by far the nicest person that I have ever met and makes the best rolls that I have ever tasted. I'll be visiting her sometime again this week. My aunt will be watching her till she passes as she needs full time care since she can't really move anymore. She is extremely week and surgery was not going to happen because of this. I'm starting to tear up at work...
Pray if you will for her, one of the nicest persons alive.

Nags Head and the Outer Banks Summer 11'

Hey everyone! School is winding down and I have a presentation tomorrow and will be done for the Summer!
I finally am getting around to posting these lovely photos from when I was at Nags Head in the Outer banks last month with family and my girl friend. My girl friend had not gone before but she really enjoyed it. I wished we stayed more then two nights but we didn't. I would have showed her around a lot more but there is always a next time. My parents actually wen this past weekend alone since my sister and I were working and I had class on Monday!

Now finally on to the photos! These first batch of photos is a place we go to every single time we travel down there. Mostly because it is fun and you get a great vantage point for the area. It is Jockey's Ridge State Park. Click here for info

So this time I had my girl friend with me, which is different then the usually photo post!

Photobucket

I sometimes think it looks a lot like a desert, with such few vegetation. Although there is a lot of pieces of rock, concert and asphalt. Some clam shells and oysters that were probably dumped here to keep the dunes  normal. Not to many foot prints out this way as most people go straight for the bluffs of the dunes to reach to the top. It nice to be able to walk all around the park to appreciate it's natural beauty.

Photobucket

Photobucket

When you are on/at Jockey's Ridge you get a great view of the sun setting on the sound side of the barrier islands. Best time to go up there is when the sun is setting, it is a lot cooler in the summer at that time.

Photobucket

There is constant wind up here and that is why the park also has hang gliding lessons on the ridge for a few. You get the class and to fly! Also lots of people bring kites to fly since Kitty Hawk Kit company is across the street so you can go grab one. I just like the patterns that the wind forms into the sand.

Photobucket

The wind moves around the leaves and branches on the plants that are out there and the write into the sand and form patterns.

Photobucket

In the other part of the park where it isn't so hilly, the sand on top is white and fine while there is darker black sand underneath. That is what is shown below when the wind uncovers some of it.

Photobucket

My girl friend was reminded of crop circles when she saw this and it really does haha. When the wind shifts in different directions over the course of the day the grass had made a complete turn around and formed a circle.

Photobucket

Sun is getting closer and closer to setting.

Photobucket

Love the color of the sky. It is really nice to see and there was some large clouds inland on the other side of the sound. This place is great to catch a glimpse at the sky.

Photobucket

My girl friend wore red and stands out, especially when I was messing with the shutter speeds.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Bye bye sun, till tomorrow!

Photobucket

So the next day or tha same day as we went to Jockey's ridge we went to Bodie Island Lighthouse. It is on the Cape Hatteras National Seashore. It is pronounced "body". It is currently going under some restorations to make it look pretty and ready for the public. It pretty much is already public though

This is what it looked like 50 years ago...haha not really I took it.

Photobucket

Like the more famous light house on the Outer Banks, Cape Hatteras Light, it still ha the black and white coloring. Although it is only plane striped while Hatteras is spiraled. It is still great looking. The day at that point was a little over cast and there was lots of fires that were happening in North Carolina that weekend so you could smell the hint of smoke in the wind coming form the mainland.

Photobucket

I love ferns and had to take this XD

Photobucket

So the girl friend and I went by ourselves to Pea Island Wildlife Refuge. It is on the other side of Oregon Inlet. Check the map below!

It has a few trails to walk around on and just enjoy the wildlife and the brackish water that is around. I do say, use caution when you go because there is a TON of mosquitoes so take precautions before you get out of the car!

Photobucket

A snapper was on our path!

Photobucket

I love it there and is a great place to get off the beach and go check the wildlife in the area!
